Newark College Promise scholarships are awarded annually and are renewable for up to three consecutive years or until a Bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Students must attend public accredited 4-year institutions of higher education in New Jersey state, and are required to report annually all accepted awards, grants and scholarships to the Newark Housing Authority. In order to maintain receipt of the scholarship, students are required to be enrolled full-time, earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, not face any disciplinary action, and complete a yearly renewal application, FAFSA, and mentor form.

Award amounts will be individually assessed after deducting other scholarships/grants from the cost of attendance for one academic year at the student’s college or university and may vary based on demand of available funds. Awards will be decreased accordingly if recipients’ total accepted funds exceed the comprehensive costs of attendance (tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for course load) defined by the Newark Housing Authority.
