The Berkeley Community Fund rolled out a new scholarship initiative for Berkeley public school graduates. In the fall of 2017, the “Berkeley Promise” awarded 25 scholarships of $1,500 over the course of two years and provides monthly mentoring sessions to help students succeed. Eligible students must be first-generation, low income, or from a traditionally underrepresented group. Recipients must be enrolled at Berkeley City College and have the goal of directly transferring to a four-year college. The above information is taken from the program’s website.
