Help Celebrate National Community College Month

Help Celebrate National Community College Month

Join the College Promise Campaign in celebrating National Community College Month. Throughout the month, we will celebrate community colleges and the College Promise programs that expand access to them for so many hardworking students. Here’s our plan for April:

  • Week 1: April 2-6th is “Why College Promise” week. We’ll be sharing some of the nation’s key higher education and workforce development challenges and how College Promise programs are addressing those challenges. Join this important dialogue – particularly with local data on the college affordability crisis, the skills gap, and other related issues. Please share on social media using the hashtag #WhyCollegePromise.
  • Week 2: April 9-13th is “This is College” week. We’ll be profiling the exciting range of educational programs at community colleges across the country to show students and community members that there are more opportunities than they might expect and that there’s a place for every hardworking student in higher education. We’ll focus on visually distinctive programs, like cybersecurity, fashion design, welding, and forestry. Please share our video and your own photos and videos with #ThisIsCollege.
  • Week 3: April 16-20th is our “Community College for Everyone” week! Please share throughout the week why you believe everyone deserves a shot at a community college education using #FreeCommunityCollege.
  • Week 4: April 23-27th is our “Promise Proud!” week. Please join our social media campaign celebrating local College Promise programs and proposals. Brag about what makes your local program special. Perhaps it’s sustainability or completion rates, wrap-around services, or a great college-going culture. Whatever it is, share your pride on social media using #PromiseProud. We’ll be sharing your posts and telling the nation how impactful your programs are. Students, colleges, and communities without a Promise program are also invited to participate!

    • April 26th 3-4pm EDT, join us for our “Promise Proud Twitter Chat!” For the whole hour, we will be posting questions about why Promise programs are needed and how they have impacted communities across the country. We invite community leaders and students to participate and engage in a variety of topics addressing the needs and services of Promise programs. Talk with supporters of free community college across the country using #PromiseProud.

We look forward to hearing your inspiring stories and having you share your valuable programs with your communities, states, and our nation!
